CHAINSAW SAFETY & HANDLING*

In this course you will learn about the safe operation of a chainsaw and have opportunity to put information to practice by carving a simple log bench. Instruction includes personal protective equipment, kickback, proper felling, notching, storage, chainsaw safety features, reactive forces, proper sharpening, introduction to wedges, felling levers, round and flat files, and depth gauge tools to properly maintain saws. 

Cost: $300 lunch and equipment provided, full day

* This course is Accredited by Safety Services Manitoba. Participants will go home with an accredited Certificate of Completion that can be used for employment purposes.

Spend a day with one of our qualified instructors learning the art of wood craft and go home with your very own creation!

All sessions include:

  • qualified instruction

  • required wood for the project

  • lunch (full-day sessions only)

  • you get to take home your finished product

Chainsaw Carve Tree

Interested in chainsaw carving but not much experience with a chainsaw? This is the workshop for you. In this beginner workshop you will learn the basics of handling a chainsaw safely as well as the basic cuts involved with chainsaw carving. You will have the opportunity to carve your tree from a log using a chainsaw. Chainsaws are provided. 

Cost: $200 (half day, 9 AM to 1 PM)

Tyndall Firewood Supply is located just outside of Tyndall on the south side of Highway 44, 1/2 mile west of 12S. Look for the sign!

Chainsaw Carve Woodspirit

Interested in chainsaw carving but not much experience with a chainsaw? This is the workshop for you. In this beginner workshop you will learn the basics of handling a chainsaw safely as well as the basic cuts involved with chainsaw carving. You will have the opportunity to carve your own woodspirit from a log using a chainsaw. Chainsaws are provided. 

Cost: $200 (half day, 9 AM to 1 PM)

  • Hardhat

  • Safety Glasses (Hardhat with safety shield preferred)

  • Hearing protection

  • Work gloves

  • Chainsaw Chaps

  • Steel toed boots

  • Chain saw (max 35cc or electric) with short (12" max) bar and safety chain

The session will cover all the steps involved from planning it out, blocking, carving details to finishing. At the end you will go home with your very own chainsaw carving. Provided in this session is the instruction, log, tools for detailing, and lunch. Participants must provide their own chainsaw and safety equipment.

Cost: $300 includes lunch
